21 Days of Gratitude - Day 6

Overflowing with Thankfulness

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”  Colossians 2:6-7 NIV

In this epistle that Paul wrote to the believers in Colosse he encourages them to live in Christ by being rooted and built up in him and by doing so they would strengthen their faith. In these verses Paul also adds something that we all must take note of and that is the overflowing of thankfulness.

The word in the Greek used for overflowing also means abundance, to exceed, to be in large measure.

There is a direct connection with growth in the faith and a attitude of gratefulness. When one limits their gratitude they soon lose appreciation for for the blessings around them. Your personal growth and the growth of the church will be hindered when one loses their gratitude .

Paul not only encouraged us to be thankful but he encourages us to extreme thankfulness, the kind that overflows to all around.

My response: To let my thankfulness overflow to all around  as I continue to grow in my faith and help others grow deeper in their faith alongside me.
