40 Day Journey - Day 6

February 26
Fast Turmoil

Psalm 131
My heart is not proud my eyes not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed myself and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Israel, put your hope in The Lord both now and forevermore.

This psalm of David gives us insight into how he kept himself from being overtaken by the stress of the day. He refused to let pride overtake him, (those emotions that cry out why me!), he did not look down upon or despise others, (the emotion of I am better than them - why aren't they experiencing this instead of me), and he practiced keeping his emotions in check, (like a weaned child, illustrates the confidence that mom is going to take care of my needs - before this time a baby will whimper, or cry out in hunger, or with concern over any need He/she might have, now he has learned mom is there to handle every need and remains calm.)
David goes on and offers how he can have a hope that all will be well in the kingdom that he has been placed in to rule over, “Israel, put your hope in The Lord both now and forevermore.”

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Today fast turmoil: The state of confusion, disorder or uncertainty. While you cannot always control the unforeseen you can control their effect on you by staying calm and placing your hope/trust in The Lord.

It is very easy to think why am I going thru this and not a non Christian. We should have some perks, so to say. But God doesnt operate the way I think. Which is a good thing! Our reward is heaven
