Fast Temptations
Romans 8:12-14 (NLT)
So, dear Christian friends, you have no obligation whatsoever to do what the sinful nature urges you to do. For if you keep following it, you will perish. But if through the power of the Holy Spirit you turn from it *(Greek - "put it to death") and its evil deeds you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. V15 So you should not be like cowering fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God's very own children, adopted into his family-calling him "Father" dear "Father." *(Abba)
The OLD sinful nature is relentless in trying to rule our lives, the only problem is the sinful nature has lost its control over us because of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. As believers we now have the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
The fears and temptations that come our way need to be put to death - we must take authority over those things that are contrary to God's Word and ways. As we walk this road of faith we DO NOT have to bend or bow to the powers of darkness, we DO NOT need to walk filled with anxiety or fear of the unknown. As a child of God we are led by the Spirit into the realm of the divine and have power over the evil things that try to take the victory over us.
Our challenge should NOT be overcoming evil and the fear it produces, our challenge should be to stay devoted to Our Heavenly Father, for through Him we are already over-comers. As a matter of fact Paul goes on to say in v 37 ...despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours (we are more than conquerors) through Jesus Christ, who loved us.
So stand in victory as you walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. You are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you.
Matthew 16:18,19
18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Fast temptation today, those things that try to pull you back into the sinful nature. Stand strong and bold knowing you have been given victory over anything that tries to come against you in Christ.
