Fast a Meal
1 Thessalonians 4:1,2
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in The Lord Jesus to do this more and more. V2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of The Lord Jesus.
The daily journey of faith is a process of progression to greater kingdom growth. Paul exhorts the church to continue on in the teachings they have received as a way of growing more and more in The Lord.
As we continue on in our biblical instructions obtained through the Word, and the instruction of teachers and preachers of the Word, our daily lives should be lived as to take us a little deeper into the realm of faith, through Jesus Christ our Lord. It is easy to become lax in our faith due to a growing contentment with what we have learned over time - the problem is - the flesh is in a constant struggle for more of something, from food to things which bring temporary pleasure, the flesh has an appetite for more.
If we continue to fill our lives with more and more ways to please God, not only will we bring the flesh in control, we will walk in greater favor each day with our Father in heaven. So make it a daily practice to go a little deeper in your faith, by not only studying the Word, but also by living to please your Father in heaven.
Colossians 1:9-12
9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
Fast a meal today and spend the time in God’s presence with a desire to grow in wisdom and knowledge, so you can bear more kingdom fruit.
