40 Day Journey - Day 10

March 1
Fast Corruption

Luke 19:45
Then Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out the merchants from their stalls, He told them, "The scriptures declare, 'My Temple will be a place of prayer,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves.'"

John 10:10
The thief's (Satan's) purpose is to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come to give life and that more abundant.

The earlier story tells us of the cleaning out of the Temple in Jerusalem of the buyers and sellers during the time of sacrifice. Jesus was disturbed over the money making schemes that were taking the place of true worship and prayer. The latter verse shows a similar concern over what the thief (Satan) desires to do within our spiritual Temple.
Satan's plan is to steal, kill and destroy anything that is working within to bring us life by corrupting us with thoughts that are not holy. Just like the early Temple we need the help of Jesus to clean us up from the inside out. But after this cleansing we need the Holy Spirit's help to maintain a pure and holy Temple.
Our efforts are needed in this process of maintaining a place that brings honor to The Father in Heaven. The greatest way to stay filled with the Holy Spirit and keep our lives pure from the evil one is to stay in constant communion with God. Do not let down your guard and stay strong in the power of God's might. You are a living functioning Temple of the Holy Spirit.  (1 Corinthians 6:19). May your living Temple be a house of prayer.

Hebrews 10:21-23
21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Today fast corruption –  those thoughts and desires that try to stir within your heart an action that is and  not pleasing to God. You ARE a temple of the Holy Spirit.
