40 Day Journey - Day 35

March 26
Fast “The Old Luggage”

Romans 13:12
The night is nearly over the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

When we receive something new we go through a time of adjustment, from learning how to use something, to even at times, learning a new way of living.
When it comes to our relationship with the Heavenly Father this new way of living requires us to put off the old and put on the new. That which is new becomes available to us the moment we confess our sins and accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our life. Once we become a new creation in Christ Jesus we must train ourselves to put on this new way of living.
Much like going into a new year, our new life with Christ can find us bringing along all the old baggage of the past if we are not careful. Everything we need to improve and enjoy a covenant relationship with God has been provided, but we must put it on to experience the joys of our new life.
I can say I am a marathon runner and never participate in a marathon because I am not living the life of a marathon runner. The same is true as a child of God, I can say, “I am a child of God” and yet never live like one because I am not exercising my convent rights by putting on "the armor of light" and living as a child of God.

Hebrews 12:1-3
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Today fast the “Old Luggage” by putting on the new you and live like you have never lived before by focusing on Jesus and exercise your covenant rights by putting on the armor of light.   Make this a glory to God day!!!
