40 Day Journey - Day 26

March 17
Fast Spiritual Indifference

Amos 4:4-6
"Go to Bethel and sin; go to Gilgal and sin yet more. Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years. Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your free will offerings- boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do," declares The Lord. "I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me," declares The Lord.

In these verses by Amos the prophet we find two very different desires taking place. One: the sinful nature bent on pleasing self. The Israelites did their religious duty well - even going to Bethel (named by Jacob as the house of God after his experience with God) and going to Gilgal ( the place where the Israelites set up an altar before conquering Jericho) to offer great sacrifices and offerings. Yet they came with sin in their lives, not seeking forgiveness, but committing more sins against God.
Second desire we can see is the heavenly Father's desire to bless His people yet He can't because of their cold and sinful hearts. Their stomachs were empty and food was scarce in every town, they found no satisfaction yet they continued to sin. They would not return to The Lord.
Our religious actions and words are okay, but many can perform great scenes of love toward God in the theatre of life and be cold in their relationship with their Heavenly Father. We must get, and keep, our heart filled with love toward God. We have to seek forgiveness for our sins and live life's pleasing to God. It does no good to sit at a thanksgiving table with a cold heart toward our Father in heaven.
God desires so much to bless our lives and fill us with great things, he wants to bless our land and give us multiple reasons to offer Him thanks. No matter how great our sacrifice, or how great the place we offer it, there is one that knows your heart. Get it in your heart - a holy and pure love for God, and never lose it for He desires to bless your life with abundance.

Matthew 21:12-14
12Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13“It is written,”he said to them, “ ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”14The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
Indifference: lack of interest, concern, or sympathy.

Indifference: lack of interest, concern, or sympathy.

Fast spiritual indifference today, many times we can go to church on a Sunday and be unconcerned about that which is impure and not pleasing to God. Today seek conviction, or for God to search your heart for that which is unrighteous with a desire to be holy and pure before Him.

Lord bring conviction upon your church over anything not pleasing to you. May our hearts honor you and our lives be Temples that bring you all the glory you deserve this Lord's day.
